Village Fete 2010

First of all the LGVA would like to thank our corporate sponsors.

Home Counties Property have supported the Fete for nearly ten years now

And new for 2010 is the fantastic Snow Centre in St. Albans Hill .

Our Village Fete held on Westwick Field  was brilliant in so many ways.  For maybe the first time in a decade there was no concern about the weather in the days prior to the event.

This year the theme was FAIRY TALES, and nine stalls were entered for the "Best Dressed Stall".  The standard of entry was once again very high with the winner’s trophy going to Holy Trinity Church for their depiction of “The Gingerbread Boy”

Highly Commended rosettes were also awarded

Heart to Herts for

The Queen of Hearts

Leverstock Green WI for

Jack & the Beanstalk

Cats Protection League for

The Owl & the Pussy Cat”.

This year saw the first competition for scarecrows and while numbers may have been a bit thin in the inaugural year the quality of entry was amazingly high

The winner’s trophy was presented to Bennetts End Adventure Playground for “Sadie” their pink-haired scarecrow

Highly Commended rosettes going to “Reggie Runner” (the Olympic Scarecrow) by Vic Foster
“The Brownie” by Leverstock Green WI

“Scarecrow Jim” by the Smart family

Congratulations to everyone who entered, and we hope to see more of you entering next year.

Wicket Brood Border Morris troop once again appeared by popular demand and treated us to some of their highly entertaining and energetic dancing

The Annual Dog Show

There were more entries to all categories in the dog show this year than ever before, and we would like to thank Paul Carl for undertaking the difficult task of judging our four-legged friends

Here is the full list of winners

There were of course many other attractions and stalls with a superb line-up of Classic Cars at the bottom of the field

In the main hall there was a model railway layout from the North London Society of Model Engineers , and a display of superb local art in the Westwick Room where the Art & Craft Exhibition was held.

If you fancied throwing something then the scout area was the place to be!

Some LGVA Stalls

The Big Bookstall

Leverstock Green Trinkets!

Beer Tent and BBQ

To close the Fete, Salsa Mama gave a dance display, with many from the audience, including some of the Morris dancers, participating. It was great to see the whole community enjoying themselves on such a wonderful summer’s afternoon.

Once again thanks you to the kind support given by The Snow Centre
